Postgraduate Degree Programmes in Management

Joint Management Entrance Test 2009 (JMET 2009) is the first step in the process of admission to the TWO YEAR FULL TIME Postgraduate Degree Programmes in Management offered by IITs for the academic year commencing July/August 2009.

The following institutes offer the program in Management:
IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee

IIT Bombay: Shailesh J Mehta School of Management:
Program:
Master of Management

Eligibility Criteria:
For the admission in Master in Management Program a candidate must have first class bachelor’s degree in Engineering or first class Master’s degree in Science.
Candidate must have obtained 60% aggregate marks. SC/ST are given relaxation of 5% marks.
Work experience is desirable but not compulsory.
Candidate appearing in the final year are also eligible for the test provisionally.
They will have to show the degrees and documents at the time of joining the course.

IIT Kanpur : Department of Industrial & Management Engineering

Program:
Masters of Business Administration

Eligibility Criteria:
Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in the branch of Engineering of Technology.
Candidate must have overall 6.0 points at least out of 10.0.
The candidate with distance learning is not eligible for the course.
Candidates having Architecture degree can also apply.
They must have Mathematics at 10+2 level.
Foreigners will be selected on the academic and work experience basis.

Note: 15% seats are reserved for the SC/ST candidates.
Candidates qualified in the JMET will be called for group discussion and interview at IIT Kanpur.

IIT Kharagpur : Vinod Gupta School of Management

Programme

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Eligibility criteria:

Those who has either secured or is likely to secure a first class Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or a first class Master’s degree in Science (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level) or a first class Master’s degree in Economics or Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level) is eligible for admission. Selection is based strictly on performance in JMET, followed by group discussion and personal interview with the Selection Board. Post qualification work experience in industrial organizations will be given due weightage. The School follows Government of India norms regarding reservation of seats for qualified Scheduled Caste/Tribe candidates and handicapped.

IIT Madras : Department of Management Studies

Programme

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates with B.E./ B.Tech. or equivalent with first class or equivalent from a recognized Institution or University OR a Master's degree or equivalent in any discipline with first class or equivalent from a recognized Institution or University are eligible to apply.

Those who are in the final year are also eligible for applying. They will be selected provisionally. They need to complete all the requirements to qualify degree before 15th June. They need to show a provisional degree certificate before 30th September 2009.

IIT Roorkee : Department of Management Studies

Programme

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Eligibility criteria :
Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree with at least 60% aggregate marks from any recognized university. ST/OBC candidates must have at least 55% aggregate marks.
